This ability is the primary reason he could single-handedly alter the balance of power between humanity and the Gates, serving as both a weapon of war and a shield for his allies.

In Their Own Story

The air in the dungeon was thick with blood and dust. Jin-Woo stood over the fallen beast, its massive form twitching one last time before stillness claimed it. A cold, violet light began to emanate from his palm, spreading across the corpse like a creeping frost. The monster's eyes, once filled with malice, dimmed into voids of absolute obedience. 'Arise,' he whispered, and the ground seemed to ripple as the shadow detached itself from the body, rising to its feet in silent loyalty.

Reader's Guide

Shadow Extraction functions by requiring the user to defeat an opponent directly or ensure their death occurs within a specific range under their influence. Upon success, a prompt appears allowing the user to 'Extract' the target's shadow. This process converts the entity into a Shadow Soldier, removing its original sentience and replacing it with unwavering loyalty to Jin-Woo.

In combat, these soldiers act as an extension of the Monarch's will. They can be commanded individually or in groups, possessing the exact stats and abilities they held in life, often enhanced by their new undead nature. They do not feel pain, fatigue, or fear, making them ideal for suicide attacks or holding defensive lines indefinitely.

The origin of this power lies with Ashborn, the previous Shadow Monarch, who passed it down through the System to prepare a successor capable of wielding the power of shadows across dimensions.

• Shadow Soldiers retain their original skills and weapons from life, making high-rank monsters extremely valuable recruits.
